Frequently Asked Questions
Clients
I dedicate my work and education to learning best practices for supporting children, teens, and their parents. I see clients starting at five years old, and I typically limit taking on new clients at age sixteen. My hope is that by the time a client turns eighteen we have reached a natural transition point, and I can support them in connecting with a therapist who works with adults.
Sessions
Sessions are 50 minutes long to allow time for me to reset the space and complete necessary documentation. Intake sessions or parent meetings may be booked for 1 hour and 20 minutes to allow for a thorough exploration of important dynamics and details. However, parent consultations can also be scheduled for 30 minutes if only a brief update or check-in is needed.
Consent
While my regulatory body, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), does not have a designated age of consent for therapy and therefore children can consent to their own sessions, as an attachment based therapist I believe strongly in the importance of the relationship between children and their guardians. In most circumstances I do require consent and involvement from all legal guardians. This is outlined in more detail in my Policies and Procedures that guardians receive.
Fees
Sessions are billed at $160 per hour. Payments are taken with a credit card on file, which is required for all clients. I am committed to providing high-quality care and continually educating myself to best support each client’s unique needs. My fees reflect the value and dedication I bring to this work.
